stable releases should build properly if you still get all the packages sources.
as that won't be the case with old versions you should try latest stable
releases first. i would even suggest to go for the development snapshot.
furthermore stable releases may contain cvs source which may cause releases to
fail. that's why i mirrored some of these sources. please try to get/build
from the origins first.
